Insouciantly Chloé

In the modern high-end fashion history, perhaps Chloé would be the ideal champion for “the fashion house with frequent change of creative direction” award.

Ever since Karl Lagerfeld left the fashion house for Chanel in 1983, Chloé has witnessed several creative director changes. Last year, a new and emerging Swedish designer Paulo Melim Andersson filled the Creative Director seat left by former Creative Director Phoebe Philo.

Suddenly, after just a few months’ stint, the French fashion house announced that Phoebe’s former assistant; fashion designer Hannah MacGibbons would take Paulo’s creative position.

Though there was no reasons have been dispensed to explain why Paulo has to depart from the fashion house, his avant-garde creations for the fashion house has brought fresh and ultra-modern breathe to the new Chloé girl.

Furthermore, thanks to him, fashion fans are spoiled with more it bags from the brand. One of them, the popular Bay bag in elephant hide sparked controversy within fashion world but of course, what’s style sans a storm?

As his last gift to his supportive fans, Paulo has created another terrific style adventure for his Chloé girl. If the previous fall/winter tale immortalized Chloé as an angry girl who steals from her mother and a little magpie, this season, the tale changes a little bit.

Instead of being fashionably atrocious, she is depicted as an urban girl who lives her life to the fullest. She may be aristocratic by family background but she also loves walking on the wild side.

Insouciant and fashion forward, Paulo’s Chloé always go for the real instead of faux and she never give a damn on what PETA may say about her.

Thus, one should not be surprised to see her coat hanger or closet filled with jackets made from lush pelts of fox, beaver, and coyote.

Underneath the hangers is her rock star-influenced patent leather and crocodile shoes with super pointed spiked heels. A reminder that anarchist is back in style!

As we move to her closet inside her girly bedroom, Chloé is more than pleased to spread out what’s new for us to view on her Egyptian cotton bedspread. There were a lot of sheerness and folksy feel incorporated into her fall/winter collection.

By day, either going to college or hang out with girlfriends, she would opt to be dressed in immaculate chiffon tops or dresses in wither plain or prints. A mousseline tutu partners well with them too.

If fur jackets were too much, her alternative towards simplicity without sacrificing fashion would be overcoats with side slits in English herringbone and check tweeds.

There’s also a tuxedo-like version that is suitable to be worn in the evening. And like the previous years, the inevitable and indiscardable leggings and tights are still a part of Chloé’s fall/winter staple. There are two choices she could choose from – simple Lurex or glittery floral.

And last but not least, what’s an immaculate style without the right accessories to go with? Sitting atop her must flaunt accessory in the upcoming fall/winter season is the jewel-like compact bag in shiny leather rimmed with python.

Classic and exotic pressed into one; the fall/winter compact bag oozes the quintessential bag style of the 70’s and 80’s, when everything was made with long straps and made to hang on your shoulders.

Chloé’s fall/winter 2008 collection will be available in either August or September at all Chloé stores and selected multi-brand boutiques worldwide.
