Dress Like The Supermodel

In the recent years, we have seen a number of celebrities who have shown their strong interest in dressing up the world by turning themselves into fashion designers. First we have Sean "Diddy" Combs with his label, Sean John; next, Diddy's ex-girlfried, Latina actress and songstress Jennifer Lopez or formally known by her moniker JLo with her own clothing line, JLo by Jennifer Lopez, a fragrance and beauty line also under the same name and now, Sweetface, the more upscale second line to cater to the much fashion-conscious lot. Not to miss the action were No Doubt's frontwoman Gwen Stefani with her L.A.M.B and Hilton hotel heiress, Nicky Hilton with her labels Chick and Nicky Hilton Beverly Hills. Last year, the fashion world saw another emerging yet talented celeb who wants to partake for a slice in the growing celeb fashion market - Milla Jovovich. The renowned face of cosmetic giant L'Oreal and the former girl for Parisian label Celine collaborated with friend, designer Carmen Hawk to create their label, Jovovich Hawk.

Inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley, Blonde Redhead and Fred Astaire, the duo designs encompassed the belief of "feel good look great, feel bad look great", which Milla and Carmen shares the same view in fashion. For them, clothes should be wearavle, comfortable, and need not to make a spectacle out of its wearer. The Jovovich-Hawk label designs are created for woman who lives independently, who are creative, funny, elegant and romantic. The atelier is based in Los Angeles. When the first collection was introduced, it was bought and sold by Fred Segal, L.A's most reputable name in fashion retailing and also the place where Hollywood stars do their shopping religiously. To their surprise, the collection was an instant sellout. As the label enters its second season, the reception from fashion lovers were amazing. Again, Fred Segal re-ordered the collection to accomodate the demands of fashion lovers.

For Spring 2006, Milla and Carmen liberally used silk and cotton as the main fabric of their collection. There's even bodysuit in sheer ribbed jersey and wide leather belts. This month, Jovovich-Hawk made its maiden landing in London as prestigious retailer Harvey Nichols snapped their collection to be retailed in the UK.

Jovovich-Hawk' Spring/Summer 2006 collection of is available at Harvey Nichols Hong Kong and Barneys Japan.
