Escada Enters India

German upscale fashion label Escada is making its triumphant entry into India, one of the world's largest market and second biggest after China, by opening two of its flagship stores within the subcontinents.

On March 14, Escada's first store in Mumbai was opened and received a tremendous response from the Indian fashion connoisseurs while another store will be opened in Delhi within months to come. The Indian Escada stores will be run by India's S. Kumar Nationwide, an exclusive partner appointed by Escada as the subcontinent distributor for the brand's goods.

"With the opening of the first shops in India, we are following our distribution strategy of always being one of the first luxury brands to enter evolving markets for luxury fashion and accessories," said Frank Rheinboldt, CEO of Escada Group in an official press release. "We are convinced that S. Kumars Nationwide, as our exclusive distribution partner, will position ESCADA successfully on the Indian market within the next two years."

The opening of Escada flagship stores in India were celebrated in a grand manner with a dinner party thrown by Escada and S. Kumar Nationwide at the exclusive Taj Mahal Hotel. The dinner was attended by 120 guests, of all members of Mumbai's high society who were treated to a glamorous fashion show of Escada's Spring/Summer 2007 Collection.

The highlight of the evening was the beautiful serenade from chanteuse Sonia de Meglio and Parisian DJ Monsieur Velvet. Within the next two years, seven more Escada boutiques will be opened within India.

Escada's Spring/Summer 2007 Collection is available now at all 440 Escada stores in 60 countries around the world.
