Marchesa's La Vie en Rose

I guess the best background song for Marchesa's Spring/Summer 2007 runway show last year was La Vie en Rose by the late French chanteuse Edith Piaf.

It seems appropriate because the label's founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig were definitely in love with the flower that is commonly associated with love and beauty, two qualities that the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite known for.

Attended by The O.C actress Mischa Barton, ex-Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sarah Michelle Gellar and top stylists to the stars Rachel Zoe on the front row seats, all of the 26 Spring/Summer 2007 ready-to-wear pieces were adorned with rosettes of all sizes.

Whether it's on the bust, the neckline or on the hem, rosettes are the prominent detail feature that almost eclipse the ethnically-inspired beadworks and embroidery works.

Fabrics such as tulle, chiffon and satin organza were used in the collection and beautifully evolved into intricate forms and feminine shapes. Knee-length organza dress with elongated sculpted sleeves and detailed with small white rosettes, metallic black organza jacket with rosettes detailing and pintucked sleeves worn with matching silk-wool pants, and strapless chiffon corset dress with rosette blooms all over to name a few were the pieces that got the audience attention.

Another piece that can be considered as the editors' favorite was the sculpted strapless lipstick pink satin organza dress with large rosette-like fold in the center of the bust.

Not only the striking color that caught their attention but the creative rosette fold that graced the dress can enhance the beauty of its wearer witjout having to accessorize much.

Strapless tulle babydoll gown in lime with small rosette folds details of the same hue around the bust too got the most attention from socialite Margaretha Missoni.
