The Link to open in KL ... Again?

While many international retailers are vying for a retail spot at The Gardens, a new retail and lifestyle development adjacent to Mid Valley Megamall, Singapore's prominent luxury retailer The Link does not want to be left behind with its first store to open at The Gardens within the third quarter of the year.

The news of The Link trying to partake in Malaysia's growing luxury market is not new anymore. A few years ago, the company, founded by Tina Tan-Leo was scheduled to foray into Malaysian market through a store opening at the uber-chic Avenue K, opposite the majestic Suria KLCC and the Twin Towers.

But after the Avenue K's construction had completed, Malaysian fashionistas who've been frequented The Link by crossing the causeway season after season since the last 20 to 30 years, were quite disappointed when the company decided to abandon their plan.

Selling fashion big names such as Roberto Cavalli, Daslu, Carlos Miele and more, The Link can be defined as the purveyor of Singapore and South East Asia's luxury lifestyle.

Every month, hundreds of wealthy socialites, businesswomen and celebrities thronged its Palais Renaissance and The Mandarin Shopping Gallery to stock what's hot and new from the Milan, Paris, New York, London and even Sao Paulo runways.

Apart from the blinking names that spell "LUXE", The Link is the sole distributor for Miss Sixty and Energie, two fashion brands specializing in denim and casual wear for the younger crowd from Italy with stores in Singapore, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. It also holds the sole right to Italian chic brand Etro with one store set up in Singapore.

It is hoped that with The Link's opening in Malaysia, Malaysians fashionistas will be able to enjoy wider range of styles from the fashion maestros of the world and we hope that the news may come true and not just some rumors.
