Outer Intimacy ... Jovovich-Hawk S/S 2008

When model/actress/musician Milla Jovovich and her former model-cum-designer friend Carmen Hawk came up with their own fashion brand, I was a little cynical.

My doubts arose since the brand emerged at a time when hordes of celebrities are vying for a slice of fashion pie by creating their own brand of fashion that enticed fans into becoming their mini-mes'. But the girls are different and they
know their path very well.

Unlike Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez, Milla and Carmen did not rely
on sub-designers to design for them. Instead, they did it all by themselves - from finding inspiration and designing to creating patterns.

For Spring 2008, the girls are back with a new inspiring collection, taking lingerie as inspiration. Yes, what was used to be worn in your strictly private yet luxe boudoir has been taken to a new height.

Though the trend of turning innerwear into outerwear is no longer novel, but with the girls strong and creative efforts and pairing the pieces with suitable bottoms, the collection can be a one amazing lineup of getups that every fashionista should stock in their closet. Again, vintage elements are ubiquitous and have been part of the duo's designing trademarks.

It can be seen on pieces such as the Victorian-styled embroidered capelet, white silk empire colum dress a la Empress Josephine's dressing gown, and the printed chiffon teddies, reminiscent of the Cold War.

Other must wear pieces from this bedroom story-inspired collection are satin silk dress with pleated bodice and criss-cross straps, shift dresses with eyelet details on hems and necklines, and printed top with bubble sleeves and matching shorts ensemble.

Good news for Jovovich-Hawk fans, if you missed the Spring/Summer 2006 collection, you've just been granted a second chance. The collection is available now at the label's online boutique, called the Jovovich-Hawk's Warehouse.

Must buy from this collection include Brigitte dress in floral print with lace details on the neckline, folksy Sue dress in sheer white with gathered waist, tiered ruffled hemline and lace-detailed neckline, and Ava dress with leather self-belt.

The Jovovich-Hawk Spring 2008 collection will be available in stores early next year. At the mean time, Jovovich-Hawk's Holiday 2007 ready-to-wear collection is in stores now.
