Gucci to hold "A Night To Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF"

Italian fashion powerhouse Gucci is holding a fund raising event to benefit Malawi and UNICEF as well as to celebrate the opening of its biggest flagship store ever in New York and the world on February 6th 2008.

Taking United Nations' 18-acre's North Lawn, which faces Manhattan's East River as the venue for the prestigious one-night only event, the charity fund raising is the first event ever to be held in an area that does not belong to any country or government, even though it literally sits on the American soil.

The Gucci fund raising event will be hosted by Gucci and international popstar Madonna. Known for vocal support to the poor African nation, the staunch Kabbalist diva will be joined by a bevy of stars namely Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Timbaland on stage as these celebs are scheduled to perform at the star-studded night. There will also be a presentation by renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs, who is also a Columbia University professor and a live auction emceed by actor Chris Rock.

Other renowned names who will be attending the glamorous event are actresses Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tea Leoni, and Lucy Liu, star couples Salma Hayek and fiance Francois-Henri Pinault, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Sting and wife Trudy Styler, Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, actor Adrien Brody, and Arpad Busson. These stars are not attending the event just to have fun but they are attending it for a cause - to serve as co-chairs.

Furthermore, to celebrate the commencement of Olympic 2008 in Beijing, Frida Giannini has created a series of eight sporty commemorative goods exclusive to the high profile game known as 8-8-2008, taking August 8th, the date of Beijing Olympic commencement date and the Asian lucky number, which is eight. The items will be available at Gucci stores soon.

At the meantime, Gucci's Cruise 2007 and Holiday 2007 collections are up for grabs at all Gucci stores worldwide.
