Christopher Deane's Spring/Summer 2008

In his "Why Don't You?" message dedicated to Harper's BAZAAR's recent 140th birthday celebration, celebrated fashion designer Giorgio Armani did mentioned about simplicity in life.

Indeed, the spring/summer 2008 trends are all about true sophistication and a dash of effortlessness.

At Christopher Deane, the clothes are less dramatic, rich in simple shapes, and showered with a wealth mix of abstract and traditional Japanese prints. If the name Christopher Deane sounds unfamiliar to you ears, then here's a thing about the brand - C
hristopher Deane was started by two designers Christopher Crawford and Angela Deane in New York circa 2005 and is one of the admired young designer labels by retailers and editors.

Focusing on fluttering and graceful designs in beautiful fabrication, Christopher Deane earned its well-deserved place in the fashion industry with multitude of press coverage, appeared on the covers of celebrated magazines namely W, Womens Wear Daily (WWD), Teen Vogue, Surface, and NYLON Japan plus a gathering of devoted celebrity fans like Hillary Duff, Mischa Barton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Paris Hilton.

Back to their Spring/Summer 2008 collection, the effortless chic collection of clothes are made perfect to suit our climate, which is hot, humid, with lots of rain falling down.

For starters, I simply love the smart yet eclectic combination of colors - black, navy b
lue, white, sea green, red, plus a dazzling plethora of modern abstract and nature-inspired prints (think floral and peacock feathers), which are 'in' and hot at the moment.

For day wear, invest in white off shoulder printed mini dress with Japanese print in black and white and large flared elbow length sleeves, a simple round neck and collarless double-breasted jacket paired blue mini skirt, or a criss-cross color bloc dress in blue, sea-green and white with knotted straps detail on the shoulders. Printed long-sleeved blouse with matching shorts in Japanese art print looks great too for day wear ensemble.

Planning to have a quiet candlelight dinner somewhere with him or simply want to paint the town red and down as many glasses of daiquiris and martinis?

Then never leave home without these simply marvelous pieces - little black halter dress with embellished neckline, shiny sequined-drenched shirt dress with self-belt and bow front detail, or a high-collared black mini dress with embellished collared and both side panels.

Christopher Deane's Spring/Summer 2008 ready-to-wear collection are available now exclusively at Maizen Maison in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
