Missoni Fall/Winter 2008

I was almost fooled by model Isabeli Fontana's apparel as she strut herself on Missoni's runway show at the recent Milan Fashion Week.

At the first glance, my perception on Missoni's latest collection is "maybe Angela Missoni is going crazy to let the girl wear a plunging neckline dress in turquoise with brownish flower prints in the hellish cold winter".

But on the second glance, she was wearing a skin-tone body-hugging turtleneck sweater inside the dress, giving me a sort of illusion that the model would have been bare underneath the dress.

Oh dear, the blue-haired Italian eccentric Anna Piaggi and VOGUE Italia's Franca Sozzani who were on the front row with The New York Times Cathy Horyn would have laugh me at me if they knew about this. So does Michael Roberts from Vanity Fair. But wait, did any
one see Anna Wintour or Glenda Bailey because I don't see them at all on the front row.

Though I always prefer Missoni in spring as their spring collection tend to catch my attention the most compared to the fall/winter collection, I must say that the forthcoming collection is not bad at all.

Lots of psychedelic prints, either abstract or floral were thrown in, making dressing up in the somber months of winter a bit fun-filled and appealing affair.

There's one top in jade green with kimono silhouette worn over printed overcoat with a pair of tailored pants and belt embellished with jade buckle, reminds me of how Obi Wan Kenobi dressed in Star Wars.

Strapless suit in navy blue worn in the midst of chilly autumn or freezing winter? They must be kidding right but the truth is as long as you have a good covering atop of it, then it's always safe to wear a strapless jumpsuit.

For those who don't mind being stoned by the PETA, there's a fur skirt with knee-length hem, stripe fur jacket with matching lining, stripe fur cape in lines of black and brown, so velvety and lush giving you the much needed warmth while walking down Fifth Avenue in your matching UGG boots. Isn't that sexy?

Other fall/winter staples from Missoni include a toga dress with sheer long-sleeve in worn-out shade of I don't know what's the name, printed strapless dress with tropical floral prints and polka dot hemming, shift dress in scarlet with ruched hem shaped like a blossoming flower, and ribbed v-neck top with sculpted long sleeves worn with gold tailored pants.

Closing the show is a silk tulle mushroom colored dress with puffy collars that resembling a blooming rose with bubble hem, worn by model Lily Donaldson at the end of the runway show.

Missoni's fall/winter 2008-09 ready-to-wear will be available at Missoni boutiques and selected retailers worldwide starting the end of august to late september while the spring/summer 2008 collection are in stores now.
