Vivienne Westwood Red Label FW 2008

Vivienne Westwood may be the queen of all English fashion eccentrics but to be honest, that would never ever be reflected on her clothes.

Though Paris Fashion Week has always been her favorite stage to present her main line Vivienne Westwood collection, she never ditch London, where everything started.

In fact, the former teacher (yes, the eccentric fashion doyenne was a former British school teacher back in the 70's)-cum-punk style icon recently staged her subtle and wea
rable fall/winter 2008 collection presentation for her diffusion line Vivienne Westwood Red Label.

This year, the stage setting was quite somber, grayish and lifeless, just like the city London itself during fall and winter. Retaining her traditional touch of punk glamor, the fashion show started with a model scantily-clad in brown long-sleeved top and panties d
escending the stairs and holds a placard that rebellious yet political screams: "FAIR TRIAL MY ARSE! Justice For The Prisoners In Guantanamo Bay. REPRIEVE."

Later, models walked on the runway and paraded a total of 48 pieces from the upcoming fall/winter 2008-09 collection. Classic rules the collection in forms of traditional prints, gray-and-blue or red houndstooth, and mystical floral prints on sheer materials that evokes sexiness of the wearer.

Mixing the silhouettes and feels of the past fashionable periods ranging from the 40's to the 80's, Westwood smartly plays with volumes, colors and an eclectic blend of materials from the shiny silk satin in red and blue to moppy black cropped fur coats.

Reigning the collection is the color black, followed by a dash of pink, blue, browns, and orange to name a few. Not to be forgotten is the classic English rose print in white adorning a black tee shirt dress and paired with a printed outer jacket bearing the same print in pallid pink.

Other Westwood's hallmarked staples staged at the recent London shows are coats with rounded lapels and baggy hems, draped-bosom evening dresses in ageless but electrifying-hued tartans, as well as some pinstripe tailorings.

For accessories, oversized tote bags in shiny and shocking pink, black velvety knee-high boots, fancy hats, and handbags in buttery soft leathers with earthy tones makes the bulk of must-have accessories from Vivienne Westwood's Red Label.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label's fall/winter 2008-09 ready-to-wear and accessories collection will be available at Vivienne Westwood stores and selected retailers around the world starting from the end of August to late September 2008.

In Malaysia, Vivienne Westwood's spring/summer 2008 accessories are available exclusively at Parkson Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.
