Mouawad To Open in KL

Jewelry aficionados rejoice! Jeweler to the kings and celebrities, Mouawad, will be taking Kuala Lumpur by storm with the opening of its new store.

Located at the swanky Starhill Gallery, the heart and soul of luxury shopping in the heart of Jalan Bukit Bintang, the Mouawad boutique is (probably) the first freestanding boutique set up by the brand in South East Asia region and will carry a variety of finely crafted jeweleries ranging from the exclusive haute couture collection to its much sought after masterpieces.

A family-run brand that is steep in history, Mouawad was founded by Dav
id Mouawad in 1860s. A native of Lebanon, he left his country and traveled throughout the United States and Mexico to learn the art of goldsmith, jewelery-making, and watchmaking.

While repairing watches and jewelery, David began to develop and refine his skills by creating intricate and exquisite church clocks and jewelery pieces commissioned by his wealthy clients.

The newly founded skills and the designing philosophy that he founded were then handed down through four generations.

Later, through his son Fayez, Mouawad started its jewelery business in Saudi Arabia and became the first foreign jeweler to be awarded with "royal jeweler" decree by the Saudi Arabian royal family.

Decades later, Mouawad began to expand its wings by tapping into new markets namely Europe, North America, Middle East, and Asia.

Today, under the helm of CEO and Chairman Robert Mouawad and his four sons - Fred, Alain, and Pascal, Mouawad continues to charm the world with its original and distinctive jewelery pieces worn not only by the rich and famous jetsetters but also by high-profile celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani just to name a few, at prestigious red carpet events.

In 2006, two celebrities were roped in by Mouawad to create fine jewel collections and they were supermodel cum Victoria's Secret Angel Heidi Klum and A-list celebrity stylist Andrea Lieberman.

While Klum came up with only one line, which was inspired by clover shaped marble inlay of the historical Duomo in Milan, Lieberman, on the other hand, came up with two collections - Lady Spike and Tribal.

Adding an extra bling to their glittering business portfolio is the limited edition Fantasy Bra line, created via special collaboration with sexy lingerie purveyor Victoria's Secret.

Modeled by top Victoria Secret's Angels namely Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Gisele Bundchen, the bras sport a hefty price tag of US$11 000 000.00 and comes with a matching fully bejeweled underwear.

The freestanding Mouawad boutique is located at Indulge Floor, Starhill Gallery and is scheduled for opening this Spring.
