Hannah Did It ... Chloé SS09

The fashion world’s anticipation for Chloé has finally ended. Without a doubt, newcomer Hannah MacGibbon’s spring/summer 2009 collection, which is her debut for the house, was not disappointing at all.

Hannah, who took over the Creative Director stint from Swedish designer Paulo Melim Andersson not long ago, displayed her first full-scale effort for the evergreen French fashion house yesterday at Paris Fashion Week 2009.

Boasting the understated chic and eternally girlish on its own right, Hannah’s collection is simply what a girl always dreamed of – a selection of clothes that really understands her desire, less frills, and impeccably youthful.

Doused in sinful nude shades with powdery summer tints of yellow, sand, amber, and terracotta to name a few, the runway kicked off with Karlie Kloss walking on the stage in sat
in top with high-waisted lace-fringed shorts and innovative scallop-edged coat in vivid powder yellow.

Dominated by simple but elegant shapes, pieces like one-shoulder dresses and or tailored suits with belted waists are simply irresistible. But still, it is the scallop edges predominant on almost every piece (notably on jackets and tops) that caught the most attention.

It simply reminds me of the classy periodical attires harking back to the olden Western days. And unlike Paulo who liberally used lots of prints into his previous collection, for Hannah, it’s vice versa. Only shiny and matt surfaces take charge.

Speaking of shiny, Hannah smartly transform slick bronze lurex into amazing pieces such as the sexy yet ageless harem pants, capped sleeve top with thin lapels and long puff-sleeved belted mini dress with round neck complete with that foil scrunch effect.

Their beauties are further accentuate with contrasting matches such as matte sand tulip skirt with ribboned waist, and a Bohemian top with ruffled neckline and ribbon detailing on the front. It’s just what an urban but boho fashionista wants.

As the show about to come to the end, fashionistas were treated with more delightful pieces such as billowy jumpsuits with sweetheart necklines and a little of that scrunched detailing and more scallop-edged coats paired with top-and-high waisted shorts ensembles (which made me started seeing them as sleepwears rather than daywears).

Not to forget some waistcoats with rounded lapels worn atop high-waisted airy harem pants, evoking memories from Barbara Eden’s “I Dreamed of Jeannie”.

But anyway, what is Chloé without its world-famous lineup of sexy and girlish shoes to boot? While neither Bay nor Paddington and Silverado were spotted at the runway show, Chloé fans can also look forward to incredibly stylish accoutrements to complete your Chloé girl look.

Pick ‘sure hit’ accessories like two-colourways canvas handbags with golden chain strap, leather trimmed canvas shopping bag with leather and gold chain handles, as well as galore of sandals, either flat or high-heeled.

Chloé spring/summer 2009 collection will be available at all Chloé boutiques and selected multi-brand retailers worldwide starting February 2009.
