Spanish fashion label Balenciaga made its official presence in South East Asia through its one-of-a-kind freestanding boutique in Singapore. The store is located in the swanky yet posh Hilton Shopping Gallery, in the heart of Singapore's busiest yet famous shopping belt, Orchard Road. Famous for its chic waiting-list generator Motorcycle Bag, the store carries complete ready-to-wear lines and accessories. Singapore was chosen as a part of the brand's worldwide expansion. Operated by Singapore's largest fashion retailer, Club 21, the boutique, which is the second after its flagship boutique in Hong Kong, features cool yet futuristic and minimalist interior.
For Spring/Summer 2006 collection, designer Nicolas Ghesquière is focusing on the elements of "architecture and embellishment, sharpness and ornamentalism." Objet d'art pieces that every fashionista must have in her wardrobe is the stunning brocade suit, which is paired with a high-necked frilled shirt to exude the Victorian feel.
Also included are simple day-to-day wear such as jeweled rock tour t-shirts and gray knife pleated kilt. Not to forget is the classical black gown in intricate laces and chiffons; Cristobal Balenciaga's past creation, the bubble dress has been given a breathe of new air by Ghesquière in radzimir and silk. Also on the top list for any Balenciaga fan is the cream bell-shaped organza dress which looks stunning when it was sashayed on the runway during Paris Fashion Week.
If you happened to be in Johor Bharu or in Singapore, do not hesitate to take a peek into the new store and at least, leave the store with a motorcycle bag :D
