Roland Mouret at Maizen

Fashionistas rejoice! The new Spring/Summer 06 collection by the latest and emerging fashion designer Roland Mouret is now available for your disposal at Maison Maizen. Mouret was born in 1961 in Lourdes, France. He kickstart in the fashion scene began with his involvement in fashion shows in Paris and London as artistic director, model and stylist. His first collection was presented at London Fashion Week in 1998 and it received huge critical acclaim with with Collezioni giving his first cover. The first collection, consists of fifteen one off pieces were handmade and using the techniques of fabric draping on the body and held together with hat pins and stud fastener.

According to Mouret's official site, the frenchman retains his "self-taught technique, that it all comes from a square of fabric". The evolvement of his draping and folding technique is to meet the growing demands of modern ready to wear. His line encompasses tailoring, eveningwear, knitwear and accessories that he balances with private commissions of one off pieces and the development and expansion of his RM Rough raw diamond jewellery range. June 2004 saw the launch of the first Roland Mouret Cruise Collection.
