The Scent of Mystery

After his famous nine years stint with Gucci as the Italian premier fashion house's creative director that ended in 2003 with the last collection being inspired by his trip to Japan, and a special collaboration with US cosmetic giant Estee Lauder in reinterpreting the infectious spirit of the brand's first and best-selling perfume Youth Dew through its reincarnation Amber Nude, Texan designer Tom Ford is embarking another journey in the world of fragrance with his new scent called The Black Orchid.

Known for his sensuous, sexually-charged and glamorous touch in his creations, Ford applied these qualities into his debut perfume. Scents of Black Truffle, Ylang Ylang, fresh Bergamot, Black Currants, and a dash of the rare Black Orchid gives the perfume a character or an idea on how a Tom Ford woman should be - alluring, sensual, provocative, mysterious and sexy. The fragrance is packaged in a black glass bottle with a hand-tied cord and a gold-tone name plaque with engraved lettering.

Produced and distributed by the Estee Lauder Companies, a New York-based public listed cosmetic companies which also owns cult labels such as Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, miracle cream La Mer, M.A.C, Clinique, Aramis and designer fragrances of DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Donald Trump and Jo Malone, The Black Orchid is considered as Tom Ford's first fragrance project under Tom Ford Beauty.

Exclusively retailed by America's luxury shopping institution, Neiman Marcus, The Black Orchid fragrance line is available in Eau de Parfum ($135.00 for 100 ml and $90.00 for 50ml) and a limited edition 15ml perfume in black Lalique crystal bottle that retails for a cool sum of $600.00.
