Frank Gehry for Tiffany & Co.

World-famous architect Frank Gehry and America's most celebrated jeweler Tiffany & Co. recently collaborated on a signature jewelry line, called Frank Gehry. Featuring six collections aptly named Axis, Equus, Fish, Fold, Orchid and Torque, each line are created based on the principals of architecture as well as Gehry's fondness for nature.

Born Ephraim Owen Goldberg in Toronto, Canada, Frank's family changed their surname to Gehry when he was 17 years of age. They moved to California, where Frank later studied at Los Angeles City College and graduated from University of Southern California's School of Architecture.

His designs are sometimes fall under the deconstructivism category and have designed numerous famous landmarks around the world that includes Santa Monica Place, Vitra Design Museum, Frederick Weisman Museum of Arts, DG bank Building in Berlin, Germany and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California.

Using a combination materials of jade, silver, gold and wood, each pieces are created with passion and strong emphasize in architecture. In Axis collection, the masculine and muscularity shapes are the prominent feature of the collection; the Equus is a collection of organic shapes that are wild and unpredictable; Fish evokes sensuality and beguiling shape.

Fold is more daring and bold with lines that never meet and eye-captivating textures. For Orchid, Gehry drew his inspiration from the orchid flowers and even applies the Auto CAD into creating the fluid and seducing design. Last but not least is the Torque collection which combines both inner energy and seduction within simple shapes that are deeply deceptive.

Interestingly, unlike previous Tiffany's designer collection by Elsa Peretti or Paloma Picasso, the Frank Gehry collection is suitable for both men and women and can be worn at all times. The jewelry collection, which is first for Gehry was launched in North America and Japan in 2005 while the rest of Asia since September 2006.

For those who are interested, the Frank Gehry Collection is available now at all Tiffany & Co. stores throughout the world.
