Spring It On!

Last month we managed to bring you a little peek on Mango's new Spring collection 2007, right? Well, this flowery yet refreshing season, Mango returns to your closet in five key trends that will set you as the new fashion maven of the high-street style. They are contrasting, Urban Softness, Metal Night, Night Graffiti and Activewear.

For contrasting, white/off-white and black is given a graphic contrastive treatment, highlighting on cleaner silhouettes where gathered fabric creates new volume. Special emphasizes are given on sleeves while contrasts are created through the choice of fabrics like cotton/satin or mix structures in shiny or matte finishes. A touch of emerald and fuschia is added for more intensity to the collection.

Easy and uncoordinated image is the theme for Urban Softness. Trench coats and other outerwears have gained special importance with a given retro soft touches to an urban look. The palettes of natural colors is used and mixed with tones of gray in this collection. For Metal Night, the collection is inspired by the futuristic vision of the 60's fashion. A-line cut short garments and and clean lines are enriched with appliqué works such as mirrors, stud, tin plates and plastic appliqué works to name a few. This collection is suitable for girls night out or club-hopping.

The elements of the 80's and New Wave continues to set their influences on Spring trend. Splashes of fluorescent colors in accessories as well as heavy studding on miniskirts and slim fit capri trousers adds the street-savvy edge to the Night Graffiti collection that consists of dresses and bottoms in color block and wave or zigzag prints. A particular emphasizes has been given to knitwear garments, making them more appealing to the young and street conscious customers.

Last but not least, the Activewear collection. Focusing on the importance of colors, comfort, cut and shape, the garments are slightly boyish as it promotes boyish silhouettes that will be one of the main key looks for Spring 2007. Staple pieces in this collection will be hooded tops, slim fit trousers and baggy jeans.

Like the previous Fall and Winter 2006 season, Mango is once again appointing Milla Jovovich to front its ad campaign. Milla was chosen by Mango as the brand's image because she represents today's woman that Mango or MNG likely to dress - beautiful, fun, sensual and sophisticated. Apart from fronting the ad campaign, Milla and friend, designer Carmen Hawk were given an opportunity by Mango to work on a limited edition collection under their label Jovovich-Hawk for Mango. Also in selected Mango stores now is a limited edition collection by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad that has been on shelves since last September.
