Now, post Tom Ford, the filthy rich Mexicans will no longer need to cross the border to buy Gucci bags or the A-list ready-to-wear collection because the Italian fashion and luxury goods retailer finally made its mark in the local fashion and shopping scene with the unveiling of its first Mexico City store last Thursday.
To honor the celebration, the Gucci group threw a party to celebrate the store opening, which was hosted by its CEO Mark Lee at the prime and upfront location of Presidente Mazary Street, where the new store is located.
The two-story freestanding store has a retail floorspace of 4844 sq-ft. and boasts a large storefront window display and double-height handbag room with glass ceiling. Carrying complete men and women ready-to-wear collection, accessories, leather goods, shoes and jewelry, the store is set to become the new shopping attraction and a place for Mexican serious shoppers and socialites to hang out for a tête-à-tête while viewing and trying the label's latest collection.
Later on, as a part of commemoration on the new store opening, as well as giving its ongoing commitment to the film industry, Gucci also announced that the company has made a unique partnership with Ambulante Gira de Documentales to establish Gucci-Ambulante 2007 grant to fund two top level Mexican documentary films that will be premiered by next year.
So, if you are in the Mexico City right now for work or leisure, don't forget to pay a visit to the new Gucci flagship store at the chic Presidente Mazaryk street.
