A Visitation by the Missonis

Recently, husband and wife duo of the Italian fashion house Missoni, Mauricia and Vittoria Missoni paid a visit to Brazil's luxury shopping icon and institution Daslu.

The visit was a part of their trip to Brazil and the duo was given a warm welcome by Daslu staff and its owner Elliana Tranchessi.

Known for its superb high fashion,
Missoni has been in the Italian fashion business as long as nearly 40 to 50 years, with its humble beginning as a knitwear and home decoration manufacturer. It was in 1967, Missoni staged its full ready-to-wear collection at Palazzo Pitti, and got the fashion world shocked.

Before the show started, Rositta, the one-half of Missoni's original founder told the models to remove their brassieres to prevent the lines of the black silk jersey dress from ruined, leaving the models to walk semi-nude as the dresses turn transparent under the lights.

After the success of its ready-to-wear line, the Missoni brand expanded its lines into several branches including designing carpets and tapestries.

In November 2005, Missoni signed an agreement with RezidorSAS Hospitality to open a chain of Missoni Hotels with three strategic locations announced - Kuwait City, Edinburgh and Dubai. The Kuwait hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of 2007 while both Dubai and Edinburgh each will open in late and end of next year.

This season, the Missoni womenswear line is dominated by the softness and fluidity of jersey with rich detailings of puff, gatherings, draped hems and low-cut necklines with working palettes of melon yellow, powder blue, turquoise, navy, purples and maroons to name a few. The ready-to-wear collection for men and women are available now in all Missoni stores as well as in Daslu.
