Bruno Pieter Takes Over Hugo ...

After the sudden departure of Volker Kaechele as the art director of Hugo, a diffusion line of German fashion label Hugo Boss end of last year, the position was not left vacant. Belgian-born Bruno Pieters has been appointed as the new art director for Hugo. Even so, Pieters will still continue to design for his own brand from his base in Antwerp, Belgium.

Winner of Swiss Textile Awards 2006, Pieters graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp in 1999 and have worked with several big names within the European fashion industry such as Martin Margiela, Josephus Thimister, and Christian Lacroix haute couture, all in Paris. He also works on freelance basis for New York Industry in Milan and Antonio Pernas in Madrid.

Last year, Pieters was chosen by Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten as one of the promosing fashion designers after being asked by Knack magazine in its September issue while six months earlier, he was photographed by German designer Karl Lagertfeld for Madame Figaro magazine, which features 30 Paris's best designers. Currently, he is working with one of the oldest leather goods maker in Europe, Delvaux.

For his position of art director, Pieters will be responsible for the design and strategy of the collections while the creative director position was taken by Eyan Allen, a German designer specializing in sports and have worked previously for Puma, Nike Europe, Adidas, and Ellesse. The new team will commence to work on the 1st of June.
