All Hail the Spice Girls!

It's the grand return of GIRL POWER! Yes, the Spice Girls are ready to re-dominate the world with their music and style, just like the pre-breakup and pre-Beck and Posh days.

Those were the days when they enjoyed larger than life stardom and a legion of adoring fans who were all drowned into the beauty of the fantasized Spice World.

Few months back, the gargantuan (yup, they managed to eclipse other female acts) all-female pop sensation Spice Girls had proudly announced their comeback with a concert world tour that spans Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.

Fans, who were made of then-teen girls and boys rejoiced in an unparalleled reverie when the news broke out. Though many claimed that the series of concert tour is nothing but to rake the dollars out of their die-hard fans who have been with the girls through thick and thin, the girls denied it.

Before kicking out the tour, which begins with Vancouver on December 2nd, 2007 and ends in Buenos Aires by January 2008, the girls need to hire a designer who could recr
eate their famous 'characterized wardrobe", one of the specialty (or privilege) that most girl groups doesn't have decades before their rise to a meteoric phenomenon.

Rumors has it that Donatella Versace (of the Italian fashion hothouse Versace) was engaged to create a set of "characterized wardrobe" for the girls' concert tour but it seems that Miss Versace herself has no interest in designing for the former Spice brats.

According to Guardian Unlimited, the house was 'categorically not in talks to design a character-based wardrobe for each of Spice'. Well, rumors are always untrue, right?

Recalling their heydays in the past, the Spice Girls - Emma Bunton a.k.a. Baby Spice, Melanie Chisolm (Sporty Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and the fashionably notorious Victoria Beckham or famously known for her moniker Posh Spice - were renowned for their outstanding fashion.

I still remember how they used to sport higher-than-Elton John-and-life platform heels, clothes in super-bright Technicolor hues, and special characteristics that distinct them from one and another. Even Halloween too was a Spice Girls affair as some of my friends, back in the secondary school days, used to copy their styles totally! I still remember a friend of mine who was so into Scary Spice that she even used a fake tanner to get the same skin tone as Miss Brown and got her tongue studded as well.

If it wasn't for their wardrobe with characters, the Spice Girls then would only be known as another pop group that vomits nothing but a number of bubblegummy and tarty songs that got not even the young kids, but also the monkeys in the jungle jumping to the beat :P

Now the question is, who will design their stage wardrobe? Will it be the darling designer of the stars Roberto Cavalli who happens to be a favorite to Victoria or maybe John Galliano, renowned for his extrovert theatrical touch? By the way, did I hear someone nominating Mrs. David Beckham for the designing role? God, I need to puke!

The Asian leg of the Spice Girls Reunion Tour will be held in Shanghai on January 8th, 2008; Beijing on January 10th 2008 and Hong Kong on January 12th before moving down south to Sydney five days later.
