Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2008

I still remember back in the 90's when the future was depicted as what we saw in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey - futuristic, ultra-modern and sophisticated emphasizing more on high technology, all white space, and a dash of metallics.

Ah, it was 1997 when the so-called Cyber this and that ruled the scene. But fast forward to a decade later, which is the present day, Cyber look is outdated and the yesteryears are again in fashion.
The proof? Well just take a look on the upcoming Spring/Summer 2008 collections at the recent international fashion weeks.

From Milan to Kuala Lumpur, the glorious days of 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's ruled the runway. Inspired by the super-groovy days of the 7-0, Graeme Black of Salvatore Ferragamo's final ready-to-wear collection for the house oozing a number of high waisted, wide-legged trousers, and flaring A-line skirts with a touch of sexual appeal in dangerously plunging cowl neck dress in scintillating hot red, and sheer floor-sweeping chiffon shirt dress that got the crowd wowed.

Shades of blue are the primary hues that makes Black's working palette, followed by a dash of pepper red, neutral tones, black, white, grey, and some splashes of citrus-y hues as well.

Making its ubiquitous presence once again for the consecutive third year is the wide belts in a variety of colors. There's also a number of skinny ones worn with wide-legged pants and skirts.
Apart from geometrical prints, colorful color blocs are taking the centerstage in the collection, boasting beautiful yet subtle tones.

But of course the one that catches my breath is the soft-looking shirt dresses in sheer chiffon. So soft it sways as the model sashayed it on the runway, giving me a notion that is just what the fashionable Malaysian ladies might need for next Spring/Summer season.

Being one of the most coveted footwear and accessories brands on earth, fashionistas could look forward to its array of sexy t-bar sandals, printed peep toes, plus a few beautiful bags to tote. The Spring/Summer 2008 collection will be available at Salvatore Ferragamo stores worldwide starting next year.

For Ferragamo lovers, the brand had just recently opened its first two-tier flagship store in Kuala Lumpur at The Pavilion, Jalan Bukit Bintang. Carrying complete Ferragamo collection, the store is a must visit for every self-confessed shoes junkie and bag ladies.
