Hong Kong Gets a Coach Global Store

After opening its largest store in South East Asia at Pavilion KL last December, Coach is opening its global store in Hong Kong this summer.

Located in the intersection of Hong Kong's infamous Queens Road Central and D'Aguilar Street, at the start of Lan Kwai Fong district, the new mega store is designed by Coach's President and Executive Creative Director Reed Krakoff with Coach's Architecture Group boasts a gargantuan retail floor space of 9400 square foot with four-story glass and stainless steel-lit Signature facade incorporating the classic Coach's Horse and Carriage logo to emphasize the brand's craftsmanship and heritage.

The interior of the store mimics to the intimate and residential feel of New York City, echoing to the New York's Legacy Store located at the Bleecker Street. White Italian Carrera marbles are laid with insets of black cabochons and solid walnut herringbone planks.

High-gloss white painted ceiling features decorative crown molding while custom lacquer and antique mirrors with oxidized nickel silver accents and custom-designed furnitures by Coach will be present throughout the stores.

In the press release issued by Coach, Coach International President Ian Bickley is delighted with the new flagship location which is expected to be one of the highest volume Coach stores in the world, supported by strong local consumer base in Hong Kong as well as being a shopping spot frequented by tourists from the mainland China.

Touted as another potential market for Coach after North America and Japan, at the moment there are a total of 50 Coach stores in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, as well as the mainland China itself and 30 more will be added over the next few years.

"The Hong Kong flagship is the first of several we expect to open with our distribution partners in key cities around the world over the next few years. Opening these global flagships - which showcases the world of Coach - is part of our strategy to replicate the success we have achieved in North America and Japan, attaining leading market share positions," says Mr. Bickley.

For Deputy Chairman and CEO of Imaginex, Balbina Wong, the flagship opening is another great step forward in terms of enhancing the brand's reputation among sophisticated Chinese luxury customers throughout the region.

Limited edition pieces along with limited edition exotic and hand-numbered bags designed by Krakoff will be available exclusively to the Hong Kong store to celebrate its inauguration. Best of all, the store will be the venue for Coach fragrance launch for Greater China market as well. So Coach fans, be prepared to travel all the way to Hong Kong and revel in the celebration.
