Lou Doillon for Lee Cooper

To Malaysian fashion devotees, the name Lou Doillon may not ring a bell in our ears but in Europe, Doillon is not only known for her superb acting and modeling skills but she is also a style icon in her own right.

Frequently seen in the streets or at fashionable Parisian parties wearing classic top hats with long dark tresses and bohemian garbs a la Linda Perry circa 4 Non Blondes, she was in fact the muse of Givency (post Hubert to be exact) and was featured in Pirelli's legendary calendar.

Daughter to renowned France-based British actress and singer Jane Birkin and director Jacques Doillon, Doillon is taking her step in fashion further with a three-year collaboration with renowned jeans maker Lee Cooper.

Working with denim, Doillon's collections are loosely created based on her personal style, just like how most celebrity brands' collections are done but there's also a twist.

If most celebrity designers rely on their co-designers to sketch and design while all they do is sourcing out the inspiration, signing the designs, and take credit at the end of the fashion shows, Doillon is far better than that.

Not only she fully involved in the creative direction but she also sketched the designs herself, which is quite amazing and thanks to the artistic blood running in her veins.

At the recent Paris Fashion Week, Doillon, who was in the middle of her "Love Letters" lecture tour all across France, took some time off her schedule to stage a fashion show for her upcoming fall/winter 2008 collection of ready-to-wear.

Sans the presence of elite fashoinistas led by the notorious Anna Wintour or Daphne Guinness, the designer herself initiated the show by wearing a grayish long-tailed tuxedo ensemble along with her trademark black top hat.

For the fall/winter 2008 collection, women's tuxedo dominated the collection, with long tails and tailored loose pants piped on the sides along side with liberal use of denim, in sync with Lee Cooper's fashion business nature.

Other cool pieces from Doillon are embellished tank tops, cropped jackets, gray corset and waist coat, high waisted shorts, denim bustiers, skinny jeans with braces, and t-shirt dress and skirt in black.

All these are accessorized with the predominant top hats. Later, guests were treated to a party hosted by Doillon and Lee Cooper.

Lou Doillon's fall/winter 2008 collection will be available at selected retailers around Europe by the end of August to late September while her spring/summer 2008 collection is out now, also at the selected retailers.
