Whimsically Chanel ... Fall/Winter 2007

Karl Lagerfeld is a true genius in his own right. He plan his shows very well and the result are shows with va va voom effect that his fans and critics will always remember till the end of time.

If the previous shows saw Lagerfeld and the models took London by storm as well as models descending the multi-tier structure and walking in the Versailles garden, the fall/winter 2008-09 show sees Lagerfeld parading his creations o
n a Chanel version of carousel on a white platform against all white milieu.

Ermm, not with the traditional kiddie-play painted and gilded wooden horses actually but instead, they are the oversized quilted bags, bows, pearls, and boaters, which in other word is a true reflection to the pure world that late Mademoiselle Coco Chanel had built during her illustrious lifetime.

Staged at the tres magnifique Grand Palais in the heart of Paris to top notch celebrities, media members, and buyers, the show started with models converging on the carousel in striking pose and descended one by one.

This season, the color palette used is somber and subtle, just like the rest of luxury brands who have staged their collections previously. Lagerfeld used tweed throughout the collection as the fabric not only represents the identity of Chanel but it also provides comfort and warmth throughout the incoming cold days.

Skirt and pant suits in tones of gray, light brown, and the traditional houndstooth print of black and white makes the bulk of the collection with cinched waists and belted. Oh again, belts are staying people, but am not sure about leggings.

Comfy rolled neck are applied on knitted sweaters and there is no evidence of dangerously plummeting necklines present in the collection. Must have from Chanel next Fall - sheer black silk stockings with maze print and outer coat with flare and bushy trim in black.

Taking inspiration from the English's Tudor cottages in England are short-skirted dresses in gray and bisque trimmed with black ribbons in a criss-cross manner and adorned with jewel-encrusted brooches on front.

If you're looking for something peculiar to distinct yourself from other fashionistas, then invest in clear plastic outer coat with embossed tribal motifs in leather and trimmed hems. Besides being fashionable, the coat may come handy during the monsoon season if you live in the East Coast of Malaysia.

This season, only four looks are allocated for men and unlike the previous fall/winter, the style is demure and simple with good tailoring effort.

For evening, the options include a v-neck pleated dress with short hem, strapless dress with embellished bust and hem, little black dress with chiffon frills and fabric flower details, and the classic sheer little black dress with sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves and flare.

Completing the runway look are two-toned high-heeled sandals and berets with wide leather belts featuring jewel-encrusted buckles.

Chanel fall/winter 2008-09 collection will be available at Chanel boutiques and selected retailers starting the end of August to late September while the spring/summer 2008 collection is in stores now.
