Versace Resort 2008 ... A Flowery Extravagance

Since the last few years back many designers are extending their collection portfolios with the addition of resort wear.

Though we don't know who exactly started the trend, it seems that every fashion house does not want to miss the train, just like how designers began their other collection of pre's made for sale few months before the season starts.

Be it the veteran couturiers of Chanel and Dior to the über-chic Carolina Herrera and Diane von Furstenberg, resort wear is the another essential collection that you have to stock if you plan for a vacation in Summer months. For next year's summer, immerse the beauty of the season by donning the latest pieces from Versace's Resort Collection 2008.

A 24-piece collection of sharp and clean silhouettes, with attention-grabbing colors as the working palette thrown in will definitely turn you into the center of attraction at the resort where you're about to stay next Summer.

Previewed to the press and buyers in New York last Monday, Donatella channels her new dressing mantra - less is more - into the collection. Body-hugging pleated dress with short hems, clean white yet flowing A-line tube dress, silk satin white mini dress with standing round neck and oversize x-rayed lily prints are among the pieces showcased.

Shorts and jacket in lemon yellow, sheer lemon off-shoulder blouse with x-rayed lily print, plus leather biker jacket and shorts in mocha made up the separates of the collection.

The flower power does not stop there. Big x-rayed pansies in lemon (and also in pink) adorned oversize bags, wraparound jacket, babydoll dress, bikini and T-bar espadrilles while pink and white color block made the rest of the collection.

Versace Resort Wear 2008 will be available in Versace stores and select multi-brand boutiques in the first quarter of next year, along with its Spring/Summer 2008 ready-to-wear and accessories line.
